🕐 When to Use This Guide
Follow the steps in this article when:
- You’ve successfully installed the Aruvo app on a smart TV or streaming device, AND....
- You've configured your Aruvo account and added at least one unit listing
✅ Before You Begin
Ensure you have the following ready to ensure an easy setup:
- Compatible Smart TV or streaming device with Aruvo TV installed - see the instructions to install the Aruvo app here.
- Aruvo account - If you have not set up your account yet, follow the steps in this article to create and configure your account.
- Configure your branding and theme - If you have not completed these steps during initial account setup, follow the steps in this guide to configure your theme and branding.
⚠️ Special Considerations
- One physical TV can only be linked to a single Aruvo unit: Aruvo will not work properly if you're syncing stays from multiple listings on your PMS/booking site.
- A single unit CAN have multiple Aruvo TVs: If a unit has multiple TVs, you can install Aruvo on each one, and sync them all to the same listing.
- Aruvo works for common-area TVs too: To set up Aruvo on common-area TV like a lobby, restaurant, etc., just set up a separate "unit" for the area and link the TV following the steps below.
⚙️ Step-by-Step Setup
1. Installing the Aruvo TV app
If you haven't yet, install the Aruvo app on your TV or streaming device by following the steps at How to: Install the Aruvo TV app.
2. Launch Aruvo to Request a Linking Code
The first time you launch the Aruvo TV app, it will automatically link to the first unit in your account. Installing and launching the app on subsequent TVs will prompt for a Linking Code:
3. Navigate to the unit in the Aruvo portal
- Open the Aruvo portal, and click the "Units" menu to select it.
NOTE: The "Units" menu will not be accessible if the initial onboarding steps have not been completed. If you don't see the "Units" menu, follow the steps detailed at Getting started with Aruvo TV before proceeding.
- From the "Units" menu, search for the unit listing that the TV is installed at:
- Each unit listing will automatically add one TV linking code, which will display a "Smart TV Not Linked" message until it is linked to a TV with the Aruvo app installed. Click the "Fix" button to pop up the linking code with instructions to link the TV:
- Clicking the "Fix" button will display the TV status and linking code, which you'll enter in the desired TV:
NOTE: The linking code displayed in the above screenshot is for example ONLY. This code will not work to link a TV to your Aruvo account.
4. Enter the unit's Linking Code in the Aruvo app
Enter the Linking Code displayed on the Aruvo portal in the provided field in the Aruvo app display on your TV.
5. (Optional) Add another TV to unit listing(s):
If a unit has more than one smart TV that you want to use with Aruvo, you can click the "+ Smart TV" button to add another TV in the Aruvo unit listing:
The "Add Smart TV" wizard will pop up. Fill in the required fields, then click "Generate Linking Code" to add a new TV listing to the unit:
- Smart TV Name: Add a display name for the new TV.
- Installed At: Select the location at the unit (living room, bedroom, media room, etc) where the TV set is installed.
- Set 4 Digit Aruvo PIN (for Google TV Only): When using Aruvo on a smart TV or HDMI streaming device that runs the Google TV operating system, you can create a PIN code to prompt users to enter the PIN before accessing system settings.
After adding the additional TV(s) to the unit, repeat steps 3 and 4 to link the unit listing to the smart TV(s).
6. Test Aruvo TV
After you enter the Linking Code, the TV will automatically update to display the Aruvo app. From here, you can check to confirm that your settings are all appearing as you've configured them in the Aruvo portal.
